Pioneering new and innovative approaches to teaching is an important part of what
we do.
We pioneered the modular system in the 2005s and were among the first to take advantage of emerging web technologies. We are now exploring ways to ensure our teaching and learning is truly student centered- to create an environment that will enable all our students to flourish and meet the needs of tomorrow’s world. For this reason, we commit ourselves to providing the best in:
Teaching excellence
Course activities
Bakhtar University has one of the best teaching records in the country. You will be taught by people who are at the forefront of their subjects and who are committed to getting the best from their students. Many of our teachers are involved in cutting-edge research, which means that Bakhtar students get first-hand benefit from the latest academic thinking.
At Bakhtar University, we don't restrict ourselves to traditional methods of teaching. Of course you'll attend lectures and seminars, but we are always looking for fresh and interesting ways to help you learn.
We make use of the widest possible range of teaching and learning activities.
Undergraduate courses, as well as some taught postgraduate courses, typically include lectures, workshops, fieldwork, laboratory, multimedia or computer sessions, studio work and talks by visiting speakers. You will also be required to undertake independent study and to carry out independent research.
Most courses are assessed through coursework, including essays, written assignments, projects, reports, presentations and dissertations for master’s courses. Some courses also include assessment by oral or written examination.
Lectures formally introduce and explain new subjects. You will need to do background reading to familiarize yourself with the subject.
Seminars are your opportunity to discuss the information and ideas presented in lectures. One or more students will give a short presentation on the topic and lead the discussion while the tutor listens and gives advice.
Tutorials are less formal than seminars - usually a meeting between you and your lecturer. These sessions give you an opportunity to talk one-to-one with your lecturer about your course or about a particular piece of work. Some tutorials are time tabled, but usually the lecturer has fixed office times each week when you can go and see him or her.
You will spend time working on your own and in a group so that you can gain the teamwork skills often sought by employers. You might be asked to find the answer to a problem, carry out an investigation, collect and present information, or show that you have learned and can use a particular skill. The type of practical work you do will depend on your course. Examples include laboratory work, field trips, simulations, business games, mock law trials, work experience, debates, conducting surveys and role plays.
Those of you enrolling on master’s courses will receive sound basic research training and support. You will have the opportunity to undertake your own research project, concentrate on your own particular research interest and work closely with other research students as well as members of staff in a lively research community.
Our courses are designed to be relevant to the world of work, preparing graduates with transferable skills, which is one reason why our graduates have proven to be so successful in the job market. Over 95% of our graduates are in paid work or further study within six months of leaving Bakhtar University . Part of our success in preparing graduates comes from our emphasis on:
